Course Description


Logical data models are business representations of data requirements. Using a structured approach at gathering requirements and business rules assures that the company asset is documented and utilized in the most efficient manner. Data requirements are modeled with the user perspective.

Data modeling is a pre-requisite for all uses of data within business applications(data warehouse, data mining, RAD development, enterprise reporting).

Students will learn the components of an Entity Relationship Diagram and reinforce the concepts of data modeling through the use of concentrated case studies.

It covers such topics as:

Several exercises and workshops are included to reinforce learning; peer reviews are used to evaluate the effectiveness of the workshops. Duration - 2 Days

This course has been designed for data architects, data base administrators, programmers, analysts, designers, project managers, and end-users who are directly involved in systems development and business analysis.

  1. Clarify the meaning of Data Modeling and how it fits into the Systems Development Life Cycle.
  2. Develop refined logical Data Models using Entity Relationship Diagrams.
  3. Understand the relationship between process modeling and data modeling.
