Object Oriented Analysis and Design
Open Enrollment Date: Contact BIS for latest public schedule
In-House Scheduled: As Needed
Course Description
In the last few years, many books have appeared on the topic of object-oriented analysis and design. These books explore the basic issues and techniques for developing systems using object orientation. This seminar presents the fundamental notions that underlie all OO approaches. In building this foundation, the UML will be explained and its various diagrams will be examined and compared. Since no one diagram has all the answers, various ways of choosing and interrelating them will be explored. Once the basic foundation is built, new and advanced topics will be presented. Extending the foundation in this way provides students with a more robust understanding of OO than is currently possible with existing approaches. This extended foundation will also enable the students to evolve their own techniques in the future-going beyond the OO paradigm as we now know it.
This seminar provides a comprehensive guide to exploiting object orientation, including independent evaluations of the latest directions and new products. These products include OO-CASE tools, OO languages, OO development environments, OO databases, and emerging standards-including the latest work being done in the OMG's Object A&D Task Force. In addition, it presents a foundation for understanding any object-oriented approach for business reengineering, strategic planning, analysis, design, and implementation. A migration path from conventional approaches to the OO approach is also discussed.
After participating in the seminar, students will
be able to make better practical use of object-oriented techniques
and products. Additionally, students will have a sound understanding
of what future developments to expect and how to devise strategies
to accommodate new tools and techniques. No prerequisite knowledge
or training is required for this seminar.
